One of my favorite characters on Boardwalk Empire, is Chalky White. I think like most of the characters who get less air time, there is a certain mystique. Chalky inspired this outfit, watching HBO and the people behind the styling, design, etc…is amazing. The men in Boardwalk empire are SHARP! What I love about Chalky is his depth. I am so behind. Beyond behind. So, what is crackin’? Personally, I have started taking a few classes outside of sl, and entered a competition in SL, where I felt way out of my league…depth?The Fashion big leagues, where I felt a bit like a marauder, but extremely flattered to even be involved, and getting to actually talk to people I admire, and consider to be mentors. I never thought I would be able to actually have discourse with these individuals besides, OMG! I’s loves you, all day long on flickr, admiring from afar… Yes, that was me in your prim rose-bush. Essentially, my av now has an ulcer.

On the positive side things are starting to fall back into place in rl and in sl. Managing a balance between Second Life and Real Life, is hard for me. However, I try to keep in mind that I started this blog to work on a skill, it is the work that is important. There will be times I back slide, times I put this blog to the side, but we are all on different trajectories. I like to break it down into people who are hobbyists regarding goals at this moment is to figure out how to actually use CS5. I am like *head scratch. Whether you are a hobbyist or a professional, people create beautiful work when they put work and time in. I am flaky about both of these things for instance I took these photos back in the early October, and just am getting around to “publishing them.” I have a lot of pictures sitting in my ‘need to be edited pile’. I at least got around to finishing 4 looks, despite me being like…I dunno about these, it is the process. The process…process.

 I wanted to play with the neon palate that Faint Paulse presented in her Modavia Fashion Week Fall release. It was really beautiful. Cuz y’alls know I love me some color. Color fiend, I am. Suri is more of a ready to wear girl, but I am still in awe of Faint, but don’t feel confident enough to really go for the full look, which is always amazing. The other thing that I love about Faint is the fact that she is always thinking about versatility, different layers, ways to utilize the whole garment. She now has these really gorgeous Angel collection right now. It is magnificent, and even if you feel outclassed, gussy up, make a wine spritzer, and have your av walk down a make shift catwalk, while blaring music from your iTunes. I guess I am the only one who may do this.

A light shined from the heavens for a moment, probably more likely I was suffering from eye strain, but I am setting a scene here…so go with it.

Behold! The skin’s Yuri and Maria, said the voice inside of my head.

I began to do my church pew bob and weave while sitting in front of my computer.

I have been waiting for this day, I wasn’t sure if it would ever come, but I had faith in Milok. Now prior to the release of Yuri and Maria, Milok had gone tan; which I wasn’t complaining about. Mother Goose is one of the few stores that I will by fairer complected skins from, just because I love how each skin she creates is so different from any other skin store in second life.

Now, I understand that skin preference is rather specific for most people in SL. Some people never change skins, or it is like a once a year thing where they experience gut wrenching agony over choosing “that new skin”. Other people care more about whats goin’ on under the neck, paired with a pretty face for good measure. You have people who lean towards skins that are a less mainstream, which tends to be more about the face; because if it is less mainstream below the neck I…well..I don’t really know what that would entail, but whatever works for you.

So since this is kinda sorta a skin post let me make it clear.

I am not a skin blogger. I do not look at seams,toes, hands, boob/crotch shading. I don’t even take my av’s clothes off to judge a skin. I mean Suri is always clothed unless trying to put a look together.

I like Mothergoose’s skins and that’s it. I love these new releases all of them, even the fairer ones. I love them all indescriminately; but I am so freakin’ jazzed whenever a skin creator goes dark.I just want to be clear, I am not saying that dark complected skins need to have African features, there are all types of brown people in the world, and all types of people of African descent who look a multitude of ways.

I dig the fact that Milok keeps things affordable, and offers a lucky board with even her new releases in the mix.. I also like that she keeps her perspective, while creating skins that get better and better with each new release.

I heart you Milok!

Okay about what I am wearing, to be honest I just slapped it together, but I think I look cute. This dress is a steal at Fashionably Late, it is by House of Fox, who can do no wrong. This is the quintessential little Black dress. Think Audrey.

The jewelry is Lagyo, I know butterflies, and butterflies, but I love this collar, and I love adding prim objects to my av evidently.

The boots I am wearing are from Baiastice, I know you can barely see them, but they are so affordable. (300L) Miss Sissy, has a new fall collection, so mosey on over.

I don’t know how many hours of my life have been spent waiting for the bus.

For most of you who don’t know me personally, which would be like everyone; I spent a good chunk of my life living in Brooklyn. Let’s say around 20 years give and take, which means I am older than 20 *winks. Now, people often think that living in a major city means mass transportation is everywhere…that is basically true, but for people who live off the nether branches of the transportation tree, sometimes you feel like your neighborhood is the cog in the great wheel called the MTA.

 Cog or not, my neighborhood is beautiful, and I often miss it.

If you live in my old neighborhood you have three options…you can walk the 15/20 minutes downtown to Atlantic Avenue, you can wait on the B-38, or take the G train . I typically walked because I hate to wait (also as a child my mother always made me take the bus…has cheek pinching trauma flashbacks), plus try navigating a full cup of coffee with ease on the B-38 in the morning. we could bet on the percentage consumed by your clothing, hopefully not your neighbors clothing as well, and the bus itself.

There are times…where walking isn’t a viable option, and that is when bad weather strikes. Snow, I laugh at…rain, not so much. Rain is like the ultimate frowney face living in a pedestrian city.

Sometimes you just have to wait…even if it is impatiently.

I would like to mention that there are a few blogs that have also covered some of the same pieces I am wearing. I am in love with these fashionistas, so I am going to mention them here. Bootsy Bubbles, So Many Styles.

It is safe to say everyone is in love with this TokiD cardi, I am, the pattern, the colors…yum. The skirt I am wearing is from the secret store, as well as the red wool tights. Maylee’s designs are gorgeous, her fall releases especially in my opinion. She always gets texture oh so right, and isn’t afraid of patterns and color. TokiD also isn’t afraid of pattern, and I like that their color palate is a bit different.

Also back to CHANTKARE, this necklace is gorgeous, makes me want to put it in a sammich; if that aint love folks I don’t know what is. I think it is important with assecories…that they make an impact, but are also versatile…so whoop whoop . You can find this piece at Modavia, at the moment.

The skin I am wearing is from Lelutka, I did toss on a tanning layer…*sings,Brown Skin Lady! I love the versatility of Lelutka skins, they photograph beautifully offer a ton of options and there isn’t one makeup that I am like…hears record skipping. In the post before this, and the one after, I am wearing Flutter (Lelutka skin), and to me they look oh so different.

My lovely loafers are from Lelutka as well, often times I wish they would stop making shoes, so I wouldn’t have to go broke…Let’s face it if Lelutka stopped creating, I would probably have a nervous breakdown. Whose the SL shopping addict? *raises her hand.

This hair, also from Lelutka is spot on texture wise (if you happen to have hair like mine), totally makes me think of myself in 1998, I was such a huge fan of Janet Jackson, and when the velvet rope dropped; I died my hair this color. I think a lyric from the Joni Mitchell song she used as a hook on this album fits this post.

First off…I am so sorry for totally going MIA. I had a friend/family emergency, which stretched out longer than I anticipated. My darling friend who is recovering and doing much better than the initial prognosis, lives about 5 states away, and is in the dark ages. She has dial up…no cable, etc etc. So I haven’t been able to really log in, plus playing nurse kept me extra busy. Needless to say, I have to play catch up with work, and a few other things not regarding work. Summer is still in full swing, with the holiday weekend and family being in town etc etc…It may take me a few weeks until I am blogging again. So i would like to say thank you to the individuals who have been so kind to me as a burgeoning blogger such as, Journey Lorakeet, Applonia Criss, Faint Paulse, Marcantonio, Tanaquil Beaumont, Steffy Ghost, Luana, The Glam Affair team, Flickr supporters, and everyone who takes a look at the blog, and my in world friends…who have put up with numerous crashes, photo-taking pissy behavior, lack of responses to im’s…and of course being MIA.

I should be back blogging a bit later in September or October. I have also decided while I have been gone, not to take any more promo copies. Given my track record I think designers deserve someone who is a complete professional regarding their blogging activities.

I promise Summerlisciousness will be back on my next few posts. I have been so preoccupied with cleaning my inventory. Getting it organized and taking photos. You can thank Anya Ohmai for this episode of Suri craziness. If your inventory is out of hand and you are thinking about engaging in this challenge, join the fun; we’ll all be commited together..

There are several plus sides though…one is that I will able to throw on clothing a lot quicker once I can actually SEE what I have to work with.

So why the crazy fallness…well if you have ever looked at my blog posts back to back you will see I suffer from personality disorder. Multiple style disorder? Some kinda disorder…

I blame this jacket from C’est Moi, yes you could go all summerish, BUT, the thing that I like about this item is the length, perfect for layering; especially with sculpted objects. So tada! Now if only it was fall weather. It is so hot here…

I love La Viere, and I love Vive 9 for the same reason, you can easily break up pieces of their items and make a new look. Plus there releases are so versatile, so lotsa bang for yo’ buck. Which for me is important, if I can get a skirt and a top out of a dress; I am a happy camper. It really doesn’t take much to make me happy, and I am a cheap drunk too.

Erm, the balloons and the majority of the poses in this pose are by me. I have this little store called [socialANGtz]*poses. I am having a sale on Monday in honor of Independence day. [Lelutka]: a fashion empire, I really love everything Lelutka, but I really heart on their dark skins, shoes and assecories.

MrS (Tuty’s and Mr. Sigmunds) : a very quirky oddball shop, with uncovered gems. I am especially digging their hairbases at the moment, as well as their vintage hair.

Baiastice: Incredible clothing, but really I am obsessed with their hair attachments. If you love hair attachments the way I do, pop on over they are affordable and come with multiple colors, so a steal in my humble opinion.

Dutch Touch/ Piddidle: Makeup…I have an ongoing love affair with cosmetics in SL, I love how both these brands product works with multiple skin tones. Piddidle just released this diamond cutter extreme blush layer ( a little reminiscent of Gaga), really gorgeous and can give your skin a little lift. Dutch Touch besides making gorgeous skins, makes amazing lipstick and lip gloss. If you are a dark skin lover like myself, her packs for her dark skins is essential. Essential, beleive me on that one, you need these in a major way.

CHANTKARE: My aesthetic really meshes with this brand. I pop over to Applonia’s store all the time, and always find something new that I hadn’t noticed before or was just being a blind idiot. Ms. Criss’s love for fashion is evident, and she pours all that love into her fashion forward fresh creations. She has more than one store on the Tabula sim, a basic store, more couture wear etc etc. Recently she released her Private Collection this past Friday, so the amazingly textured hat I am wearing is available. This idea has been floating around in mind for sometime, but I was STUCK. Luckily My Fairy Godmother dropped this on me aka Applonia Criss. I am new to this whole style game and sometimes can’t reconcile the concepts I have in my mind with my skill set; another issue is making it work in SL. I am highly reliant on the creativity and genius of creators, all I do is capture their brilliance.

 One of my favorite stores in SL is CHANTKARE. I actually go there so much I should be arrested for stalking. Applonia works incredibly hard, she always has something new…and her pieces are eye grabbing. The other day I was talking to my friend Journey, the style maven…about the EUPHORIA Style Wars Challenge, there is a questionnaire and one of the questions was: You have five minutes to get dressed what do you put on?

Due to my tortoise like nature, I said maybe I should put down “my wig.” I thought about the question, and though I am a wall flower for the most part if I have to go to an event in SL or want to bring a strong visual presence to an image, the place I go is CHANTKARE. Applonia’s clothing just speaks to me, I was pleasantly surprised by this Poncho, though prim, it has a weight and malleability. It is not only beautiful but easy to work with, and unforgettable.

This gorgeous poncho, is available tomorrow 6.10.2011, part of CHANTKARE’s Private Collection release. Here is a link to Journey’s amazing  post also featuring Private Collection items. I am buying everything…no joke. Also please keep up with Applonia’s blog,  not only is it awesome, but you can keep up with all the CHANTKARE events; cuz, I often kick myself like damn I missed that ensemble. Then I rue the day, and wave my fist at the sky.

Okay don’t get me started on the body co. they are trying to financially bankrupt me. They keep releasing, and like the addict I am I keep buying. Their skins are mesmerizing and photograph soooo beautifully. I am in love so much…that I busted out a MALT, so I could by the male skins. *Sighs.

Last but not lease is Emery…I heart you and all your colors, it is almost summer and the party is always going at CHANTKARE. COLOR…there is nothing like it.

This is part two of JLK and I’s first collaboration. I am so in love with these Kookie sandals, named Yannis. I bought every color at the shoe fair. This Coco blouse is such a classic wardrobe piece; really it goes with everything. Emery’s bright colors and graphic patterns, are always a must. Once again, in both our posts Journey and I featured the latest Release from LaGyo, because we heart everything LaGyo…so hard. The detail on the head band is sooo amazing.I am also a huge fan of Nylon Outfitters hair, which is simple straight forward which I love. I want to thank Miss JLK for bearing with me during this shoot. If you all didn’t know I am s-l-o-w… when it comes to posting, styling and taking photos. My dear friend Journey, has been very inspirational, and despite our lives outside of SL; I think of her as family.
