Pandora and I have just released our Designer Challenge sets.    The inspiration picture may be found here.

Our challenge was to create a summer room incorporating the colors and mood of the inspiration picture.  My set includes four chairs, a table with a bright yellow runner, four decorative coffee cups, a coffee pot (gives out a wearable coffee cup and saucer), and a cheery pompom plant.  I think this set can easily fit in a sunroom, a casual dining room, or as a wonderful setting on your lawn for coffee with friends.

The meadow. items may be purchase separately or as a full set.

Have a fantastic weekend!

In round 2 of Designers Challenge, in which every 2 weeks 2 home and garden designers will take the same rl picture as inspiration and create what they see in Second Life in their own way, Pandora Popstar from Lisp Bazaar and Gala Charron from Art Dummy have chosen the photo by Luc Viator entitled “Summer fields of Belgium”. They focused on the colors and the atmosphere and agreed to design something for a conservatory.

Pandora Popstar turned the sky into drapes with grassy fields and trees on the bottom. She made a rug with a grassy texture as a way of trying to bring the outdoors into an indoor set.

With the bench she tried to reflect the brightness of the picture and get a sunny, summery feel, and she took the hay bale and turned it into a bolster cushion. The side table is made of bark and grass, and the ladybug/bird vase has a tiny bug on the leaf.

She had seen some light bulbs in rl that had little glass flowers inside and with the lamps in SL and decided to make them more like real flowers with glass bulbs on them and they grow through the floor. They have a touch on/off light and glow effect.

From the moment Gala Charron saw the picture of the meadow, all she could picture were highback chairs and tea. She wanted to pull the colors from the picture, the yellows, blues, and reds.

It includes four highback chairs with animated sits, a table with a bright yellow runner, a coffee set with coffee pot that gives out a coffee cup and saucer, and pompom flowers in a blue vase.

It’s time to Spruce Up Your Space again. I was very excited to see a new cottage from Stacie Pryor and [SPRY]!! Stacie sent me the let love grow cottage a few days ago, and omgsquee precious!!

Such a pretty blue, and just the size I like! It’s completely open inside, perfect for creative room definition and a great blank palette for decorating. I like the arched roof when you first walk in; it gives the interior an airier feel.

I would have preferred a wood texture on the window panes, like you see on the window frames. Otherwise, the textures look nice and work well. The let love grow cottage also has the little details that I’ve always loved in [SPRY] houses. Cute little transom windows over the door, extra detail at the pitch of the roof, and I lovelovelove the bay window with open shutters and the little window seat!

Plaster/concrete and brick textures, in natural colours and tones with reclaimed bricks, great for interiors and outside walls (the “grungy” ones have a soft natural look of gently rain streaked walls)
Seamless HORIZONTALLY and VERTICALLY so you can choose the design of your walls…as always a few are out on display for you to see over at Insight Designs and the vendor gives out a free contact sheet on touch :)

Another house for you today! Annunziata Macchi (my music soul mate ♥) of Molto Bene sent me her Jensen Bungalow a few weeks ago. I like this one – I don’t know that I can pinpoint a certain style in which to categorize it – but I do like the looks of it.

I’d like to see a little more texture depth on the exterior, but I think the mix of plaster and brick is a nice choice.

Inside are three rooms – one on the left, and two on the right. Nice-sized rooms, and laid out so that the choice of what room goes in what space is really up to you. I like the idea of having the bedroom on the left, separated from the rest of the house, and then use the two rooms on the right as living/dining/kitchen/office.

I like the half-paneled walls; the wood lends a rustic feel. My absolute favorite part of the Jensen, however, is the breezeway porch. I love breezeways!!!

Oh, how cute the porch would be all filled with flowers and a cute little bench seat! ♥

I stopped by to check it out. It is small, but there were a few cute things there and it’s definitely worth a visit. I’ll be interested to see what comes from future themes, as well.

Home & Garden Market [SLurl]

Another house for you today – this time it’s the Lydia Cottage from MudHoney. Rayvn Hynes sent this over to me a few weeks ago, and from the outside it looks like a simple rustic cottage…

…but inside, it gets a little sleek and modern!

I like the mix of rustic and modern, and all the glass accents really open up the space and make it feel quite airy. The horizontal stripes in the back room are a nice visual surprise, too, and add to the modern feel. It’s like the house kinda keeps you guessing, in a good way. As always, I’d love to see a bit more shading and depth in the textures, especially on the exterior…but the mix of textures also does a good job of bringing the depth to the walls.

I also enjoy the little entrance foyer – always a great space for some cute little decorating vignettes. I’m also glad that Rayvn used “real” dormer windows – meaning that they’re open to the interior with the little window wells – it lends architectural and visual interest.

Not being able to resist any longer, I am now the proud owner of 2 young Meeroo's. So I made them a home! Low prim, with great textures, prebaked shadows for your food and stump and with 3 animations for you to enjoy with your Meeroo's.

Rightclick and sit on the home, click it for 3 animations: bending over, sitting and holding your meeroo.

Set the range to 2 meters if you want your meeroo's to stay in the home, but they like to dig in the ground, so 5 meters is more fun for them.

The shadows for the food and the stump are prebaked to keep these homes low prim, you can just place yours over the shadows.

Dutchies Meeroo homes come in 2 variations (for now), a 7 prim version with trees and grass and a 1 prim version. Mod and copy so you can have as many as you need and create a little diversity.

Ohhi! Trying to catch up on my reviews…time does slip by. A few weeks ago I was sent a copy of the latest from [Coeur], the Maison S.S. Momo house, from designer Bethany Heart.

This is a nice medium-sized house – sort of fancy cottage-y is how I would describe it. The front door opens on to a wide central hall – a great spot for decorative accents – with a nice living room on the left, and a room on the right that could be kitchen/dining, maybe an office. At the end of the hall is a cute bedroom and a nice-sized bathroom — if you don’t want a bathroom, the room is certainly big enough to be an office or even a small bedroom.

I do like the textures that Bethany has used – the mix of dark and light, and the wainscoting through most of the house. My preference would be to see more depth/shading in the textures to give better definition at the corners and where floor meets wall. I also like the columns used on the front porch – very stately. I noticed that the railing on the right side is sticking through the end column, but since the house is modify, that’s easily fixed.

The Maison S.S. Momo house is dedicated to Bethany’s friend Momo Leung, according to the notecard, and I assume the cute accents that come with the house are significant to that. The little model ship on the mantel is super cute, and the text on the bedroom wall is very sweet.

The popular MMIF is well underway this weekend, it's a celebration of current Machinima and is held inworld as well as being at the centre for counter culture, Club Karlsson in Amsterdam. Chantal has managed to get the weekend highlighted in Time Out Amsterdam magazine!

The event is also held inworld at the LEA (Linden Endownment for the Arts) Sims on a 4 corner set up, allowing for lots of traffic without the associated lag. There will be interviews with the machinima creators before the streaming of the films. I've got Ctrl, Alt, Del showing, along with a lot of great films by other creators.

As well as Chantal Harvey and her team pioneering this new media, the Atopic team in France have been promoting machinima recently, firstly at Videoformes (Machinima is on page 45 of the brochure).

and at the Espace Multimedia & Culture Centre for the “We can be Heroes” Exhibition, where there is still a week left to go visit if you are in the region.

Ctrl, Alt was shown at Videoformes and Dagon is showing at Espace, thank you once again Fauve Beaumont for the French translation of the film!
