Here’s round two of hair fair, featuring the master stylings of the awesome Lamb Bellic.

If you’re looking for hair that screams attitude and elegance all rolled into one, then you should mosey your cute pixels over to lamb’s booth and pick up some of these beauties. Here I’m showing four of the five available at the fair. Starting left to right and top to bottom we have Heart, Lovelier Girl, Lovage and Glass Candy. Lamb has seriously created some lovely hair for all our pixel needs, so go go go!

Two posts in one day! Go me! Though, I’m not sure I’ll be able to turn out another one until the weekend, as I have my first exam of the semester this coming Thursday. Wish me luck!!

I’m loving this yellow dress with the black polka-dots from designer Kendall Freenote of Wasted Youth. One of the dresses from WY’s new super cute collection, it inspired me to take a lot (!) of pictures. It was also a lot of fun to style. I played with a several different looks and this was my city look with a touch of whimsy. (It’s not every day you wear a little back crow on your head.) In this incarnation I added a big wide velvet sash belt I lifted from a old Sweetest Goodbye outfit. The yellow vinyl umbrella complete with poses is from Creamshop and is just one of many colors.  Plus I don’t get to wear my over the knee boots very often so I was rolling with this look when I saw how great they worked with the dress.  More details and landmarks after the cut.

Toast is absolutely amazing! True fact.

From top to bottom and left to right we have Michelle Tea, the ever classic bowler hat, and a short wavy length hairstyle, Bug Lady, the shoulder length choppy hairstyle with big choppy bangs, Lopsided Lilly, the super cute short braided pig tail style, Twins, the short pixie hairstyle (the sales of this style go to Wigs for Kids) and Native, the long hippie bohemian wavy hairstyle. Toast put out 3 little hair accessories that can be found in the nifty gifty at the end of the table by Lopsided Lilly. All I can really say is that I love love love them all.

These five hairstyles are only available at the 2010 Hair Fair on Sim 3.

There are so many awesome creators this year, hopefully I can show them all before it ends on September the 19th.

There doesn’t seem to be a rulebook when it comes to throwing a successful event in Second Life.  For years the standard and rules have gradually been tossed out the window when it comes to how various charities and organizations approach their respective events.  For years Hair Fair has flip-flopped in its requirements for sponsoring a booth in one of its sims; Some years you may find only established stores while in others there may be a crop of brand new stores to pull at your hair-loving-heartstrings.  Of course this isn’t the only standard that seems to have changed over the years – but on a personal level I have always been pleasantly surprised when I stumble upon a booth of hairs that are created by someone whose name or landmark may have no previously appeared in my directory of places to buy hair.

I’ve said this a million times before and I’ll say it again:  I am a HUGE fan of Toast Bard’s work; she was the first content creator that I ever made a purchase from in Second Life.  Everything about Fashionably Dead screams “raw talent” to me - much like most of her Tableau counterparts.  I constantly speak about artistic signature when I talk to people on the grid about my favorite brands and what makes them so special to me.  In the case of Toast Bard’s work I think the term “raw” applies in more ways than one – especially when it comes to her hairs.  All of Toast Bard’s hairstyles for Hair Fair are excellent in their own way, but they all share that same element that I find to be signature to everything Toast creates:  A quirky effortless-ness and raw appeal.  You know that when you are purchasing something by Toast Bard – you are getting something that may not be as polished as perhaps something you may see by Lamb Bellic or Fri.Day for example - but regardless is overflowing with a certain personality that makes it truly unique.  My preference for longer and fuller hairstyles is what made me choose “Native” for this feature – but if it isn’t what appeals to your personal tastes - it seems as though Toast has brought a little something to the table for all preferences with at least two cropped styles – namely her charity style “Twins“, which is adorable as well.

I am so excited that the adorable model standing to my right in the photo, Ms. Anya Ohmai has also brought some of her signature style to Hair Fair this year.  Though most people were introduced to Anya Ohmai through her blogs a while back – she’s quickly made a name for herself in clothing for her recognizable hand-drawn pieces and her well-received collaboration with LeLutka a few months back.  Of course those who are familiar with the Cupcake sim her will also know her as the girl with the store that is covered in the cutest  illustrated little pigs.  Anyway – what most people won’t know Anya for is her ability to create the most adorable hairstyles that compliment her line of clothing so very well.  In the past Anya has tinkered with hair here and there (I believe creating a hairstyle in the first Designer’s United event that she participated in….) – but she’s never actually made a strong name for herself in the hair community; Perhaps until now?  If you haven’t been down to the OhMai! booth at Hair Fair I strongly recommend checking it out.   As is evident in the style Anya is modeling for us – there are lots of cute braids. If braids are not your thing however - Anya’s charity style “Gabriel“ features cropped hair with cute bangs and a really cute little sculpted bandana.

Round 3 and I still have not succumb to writer’s block!  I’d consider this a success thus far – though I suppose in order to suffer from writer’s block – you’d actually have to be considered a writer.  I consider myself more of a glorified High School Graduation Speech giver… or something.

Rumor on the street is that Hair Fair is continuing to turn out an abundance of traffic and charitable donations moving into Day 4 of the event – the support of the community really seems to have been quite overwhelming this year.  I think even despite the economic slump that Second Life has been facing over the past year or so – it’s really humbling to see just how powerful this community can be once united.  The bar is set higher and higher every year – and I truly feel confident that we can do it!

If you haven’t made it down to Hair Fair yet, don’t forget that its last day is September 19th.  It sounds far off, but in reality it’s coming faster than you think!  If you are having trouble accessing one of the sims – don’t forget there are still 3 other sims to visit.  Just open your map at type in “Hair Fair” and try any of the four that are running the event this year.  Hope to see you all there! There are so many excellent hairstyles to feature at this year’s Hair Fair.  I’m trying to pace myself so I don’t burnout before the event has ended, but I really want to write about all of this hair!  I actually had to force myself back into the sims this morning to pick up some more hair that I had missed.  I’m sure that anyone who has attended Hair Fair throughout the years has noticed that all of the planning in the world can never account for whatever real life may throw at us; and for the designers it is no different.  Often, the first rush of shoppers into each of the sims are greeted with sometimes empty or incomplete booths from designers who either could not get set up in time or simply could not make the deadline.  While in some cases this can be a real let down as it means your favorite designer may or may not participate at all that year, It can also be great – because more often than not the designer will just set up late and give you reason to return and explore again!

Fans of Epoque may or may not have noticed that Vintage’s booth was a bit empty upon the sim opening yesterday morning – however, those who waited to attend Hair Fair may have missed that.  Being someone who considers Vintage a personal friend of mine, I can only say this:  Sometimes getting in and out of those Gaga costumes can be a bit time-consuming – and that is the only excuse I will accept for him being tardy for this party……..  And besides; the payoff for the wait was more than worth it.  As I’ve said before – Hair Fair often brings out the best in creators and with Vintage I can honestly say I am truly impressed with what he has offered up this year.  If you don’t imagine yourself needing a wrap around chignon with a side swept bang anytime soon - you may find yourself needing some of Vintage’s signature Lady Gaga love which can be found in his adorable “Alejandro” style.

In more ways than one, Kin has perhaps been one of my constant favorites when it comes to Hair Fair.  Though she is a bit of an enigma in the Hair community overall – I feel safe in saying that Kin was “the original” when it comes to her unique style of creating hair.  Long before Second Life was blessed with the overwhelming sea of talent from overseas – I remember Kin – with her anime/fantasy inspired hairstyles.  To this day I find it quite incredible that Kin has for the most part managed to avoid all of the things that most stores rely on for getting their name out there: plurk, blogs, in-world update groups. (Oh wait, just kidding… apparently she FINALLY has one of those.)  Though I couldn’t really get myself into her entire selection this year – I am all about the “Elsa” style – an effortless-yet-elegant side swept up-do which can easily translate from day to evening with almost any style of dress.

I hope everyone is enjoying Hair Fair as much as I am this year!  If you haven’t been yet, you are really missing out!

Yes, vive9 is now reopen! We are so excited to have the shop back up and running and we want to thank everyone for being so supportive.

We have a few items available now at the shop.
- Iman Skin ; is available in 3 tones and each tone has 11 makeups (including natural). Also there are 3 seperate special packs with 3 more makeups each in them, which brings the count of makeups for Iman up to 20! Skins are set to 850l a skin and fatpacks are only 3500l.

- Xianv2 Boots ; we changed quite a bit with these. There is now a resize script, there is an option of wood or black heel and sole. Also there are numerous options in each pack now to choose from. Xian boots are 450l per pack and 2750l for a fatpack.

- Waist Highs Shorts ; some cute high waist shorts. They are available in 5 colors and 2 special prints. They are 125l per.

It is OPEN! Hair Fair 2010 is off to a great start. From September 4-19 you can shop ’til you drop. But don’t forget one of the most important things about Hair Fair is that it helps raise money for a very good cause. This year’s charity is Wigs for Kids…so keep that in mind when buying….and splurge!

I was lucky enough to get to see the sims before they were packed with people and took a few shots. The build is delightful with tents housing the participants along walkways punctuated by classical triumphal arches. Along the center of the walkways are easels which hold the incredible winning pictures of this year’s Hair Fair photography contest and big containers topped by balloons where you can make donations to the charity. Inside the tents, you will find most of your favorite hair designers as well as many others you may not have seen before.  Take a look between the display areas inside the tents..there are cute dressing areas with make-up mirrors, fans, folding chairs. (See some of my pics below.) The styles this year are simply fantastic…in this post you’ll see a few of my favorites with more to come over the next several days. Congratulations to the Hair Fair committee for all their hard work and to the designers who have worked so hard making all the pretty hairstyles showcased at the fair! Did you know that planning for Hair Fair begins as early as January each year?  Let’s face it – Hair Fair is the original when it comes to big events in Second Life and it’s never something to be taken lightly when it comes to planning and organizing.  This isn’t just your neighborhood block party.  Hundreds of dedicated people – from Hair Designers, to Bloggers, to Businesses, to a variety of community members come together every year to do something which truly speaks volumes to the true nature of this ”grid” we all share in Second Life – and for a wonderful cause.  This year’s event is definitely no exception.

Hair Fair is without a doubt one of my favorite times of the year in Second Life.  There’s something about a collection of 100+ people who create what happens to be my favorite thing to splurge on in Second Life coming together under one event that just brings up all of the feelings and things that I love about Second Life.  Whether it’s the competitive nature of the creators themselves or the sheer desire to produce the best they possibly can – I seem to always find my favorite hairstyles every year at Hair Fair. 

I know by now we have all been exposed to an impressive variety of the exceptional hairstyles that can be found at this year’s event.  A good majority of our favorite bloggers were kind enough to share their experiences at the Annual Preview Event which opened 24 hours before the official opening.   Over the course of the next two weeks I am thinking I might just share some of my awesome finds from this year’s Hair Fair event.  As I said in my previous post, I think that I’ve lost my ability to write blogposts in a way that are easy and natural – so after going back and forth with this one for the past two hours – I’m not making any promises.  My intention though is to hopefully inspire anyone who might be reading this to go ahead and check out the event – and in the case that they already have, perhaps they will see something they might have missed or be inspired to go again?

Onto the hairs; I’m really impressed with Dernier Cri’s selection this year.  Asuka has been improving with every single release and the Hair Fair selection is no exception.  I chose to showcase the Taylor style because I felt like it’s a curly style done in a way that few others have accomplished.  The hairstyles at the Dernier Cri booth are definitely ones which shouldn’t be missed – I also recommend Dove – though I might even feature that again before the end of the event, we’ll see.  I should also add that I chose Taylor because I love big hair (which there seems to be no shortage of this year!)

Lamb’s work is no surprise to anyone who has followed her store.  I think that since her first releases she has established herself as one of the designers to watch – always consistent.  Pictured above is her Glass Candy style – and despite the fact that it’s a hair style that I wish would disappear in the real world – it works quite well in Second Life.  The hair comes with both a tattoo layer for the shaved portion and a version with a sculpted prim to fit over the skull where the hair would be buzzed.  Of course if this doesn’t work for some – there is a really great selection of other styles available at Lamb’s booth, including her adorable donation hairstyle, Mon Cheri.

Hiya! A quicky! I wanted to do some more colorful and last days of summer meets autumn sort of looks (since my last few looked like death), although I can’t ever finalize it, because I can’t get everything quite right. Andi didn’t want to post yet another a past-event post so, I quickly run these over and put these up to show you some of my ‘catches’ from the now ending Zombie Popcorn Hunt. Also I’d like to point out my Fav skirt from Glasnost by Light Claven. Took me a while but I hope I did it justice<3 And I’ve just noticed an error in the pictures! ahh!
